Director of Sales, Africa, InMobi – Nairobi, Kenya (January 2011 to Present)
As Director of Sales at InMobi for Africa, I am responsible for the functional management and leadership of sales activities for InMobi throughout Africa. I drive the Africa sales strategy and go-to-market plans including revenue targets, quarterly goals and strategic objectives, as well as overall budget and resource allocation. I lead the Africa sales team and act as a spokesperson externally for InMobi. I am also a key member of InMobi’s management team in Africa, actively shaping the business with my digital marketing and technology industry expertise and leadership, leveraging a deep network of business relationships and a passion for selling innovative digital advertising solutions to Agencies and Advertisers throughout Africa.
Regional Manager, Dealfish East Africa, MIH Internet Africa – Nairobi, Kenya (September 2010 to December 2011)
Dealfish is a Pan-African network of online marketplaces owned by MIH Internet Africa which is the digital business arm of Naspers, currently the world’s fifth largest media concern. I joined Dealfish to head up the East Africa business (i.e. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania). This involved setting up the operations from scratch including recruitment of the Kenya team comprising of 8 employees to-date. In addition, I established business processes and roll-out plans for the East Africa region in 2011 leading to the successful establishment of Dealfish in Kenya and Uganda. As of this writing, Dealfish is the leading online classifieds web site in Kenya as well as the second most popular local web site with hundreds of thousands of monthly unique visitors.
Co-founder and Managing Director, Dotsavvy - Nairobi, Kenya (October 2002 to September 2010)
Dotsavvy is a leading digital agency based in Nairobi, Kenya. The scope of my work was management leadership and business development. I was involved in growing Dotsavvy from a two person outfit to a seventeen person agency with over 100 clients throughout East Africa. Some of the key accounts at Dotsavvy included Old Mutual Kenya, Tanga Cement, The Co-operative Bank of Kenya, NIC Bank, CFC Life and many others.
Business Development Manager, 3mice interactive media – Nairobi, Kenya (November 2000 to October 2002)
Joined 3mice interactive media in Nairobi as business development manager. 3mice is one of Africa’s leading web design and e-commerce firms. My role encompassed sales, marketing, strategic planning and account management. Key accounts I was involved in developing and managing included Kenya Airways, Kenya Tourist Board, Safaricom, and Bamburi Cement.
Major Account Manager, Africa Online - Mombasa, Kenya (August 1997 to November 2000)
Initiated Africa Online’s Internet Business Solutions (IBS) Division in Mombasa. Developed and managed the division’s growth into a viable and profitable business unit servicing over 40 web site clients. Kenya accounts included Bamburi Cement, Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa, The Aga Khan Health Services in Kenya and African Quest Safaris.
During my time a Africa Online, I was initially tasked to develop and manage dial-up Internet accounts at the Kenya Coast in Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi and Diani. During this period, I successfully developed over 200 dial-up client accounts within period of one year which was a significant number at the time.
Sales and Marketing Manager, Kenyaweb – Mombasa, Kenya (February 1997 to August 1997)
Tasked to implement sales and marketing initiatives for Kenyaweb, a leading Internet Service Provider and Kenyan Internet Portal at the Mombasa Office. These initiatives included developing and implementing sales strategies, event planning and execution, customer service and training, and various marketing initiatives. I was also involved in growing the client base for dial-up and leased line internet accounts.

I have been reading about internet marketing in Kenya and was looking for more information with regards to this field. My interests are not only limited to the internet, but various medium such as cell phone technology etc.
Looking through your bio, I figured that you would have a lot of knowledge with regards to this arena. I am doing an exhaustive research with regards to investing and developing a business in Kenya using these platforms.I think, the explosion of cellphone and internet (fiber-optic cableis going to set up Africa and Kenya for more economic and financial windfalls in these sectors.
